Privacy policy for Readroll

The short version

Readroll collects no data. There is no account, no sign-in and no backend. The app has no analytics, no advertising and no third-party SDKs. Your scripts, settings and recordings are stored only on your device. Audio, transcripts and video are never transmitted to Virtia or to anyone else. The App Store privacy label for Readroll is "Data Not Collected".

What stays on your device

The scripts you write or paste, your prompter settings and the recordings you make are stored in the app's own storage on your iPhone or iPad. Deleting the app deletes them. Device backups made by iOS or iCloud may include the app's data under Apple's own terms, as with any app.

Microphone and speech recognition

Readroll uses the microphone for two things: to follow your voice, so the script scrolls as you speak, and to record the audio of a video you start. Speech recognition runs on the device through Apple's Speech framework. The audio and the recognised text are processed on the device and are not sent to Virtia or to any server. iOS asks for your permission before the app can use the microphone or speech recognition, and you can withdraw it at any time in Settings.

Camera

The camera is used only to record video that you start. Videos stay on the device until you export or share them yourself, using the destinations you choose in the iOS share sheet.

Clipboard

Readroll reads the clipboard only when you tap Paste, to bring a script into the app. It does not read the clipboard at any other time.

What we receive

Nothing from the app. If you write to support@readroll.app, we keep your message and address for as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of the correspondence. We do not add you to any mailing list and do not share your address.

Children

Readroll is not directed at children under 13, and since the app collects no data, we hold no information about any user, of any age.

Your choices and rights

Everything in the app works without sending anything to us, so there is no personal data on our side to access, correct or delete. Permissions for the microphone, speech recognition and camera are managed in iOS Settings. Questions go to support@readroll.app; we answer within 30 days.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it, the change is recorded in the changelog below, and the app's store page links to the current version.
